Eden Pure 750 LOUD Noise

Last year I purchased 3 Eden Pure 750 Heaters for around $1,200.00. All of the units worked ok until they warmed up.

Once they started blowing heat, a loud rattle started in all of the units. The sound was so loud you could not watch TV or sleep with them on. Of course it was the middle of winter when I purchased them so I had to deal with it. I’ve been looking through all of the online complaints on this product and seen what a waste of time it is to deal with Eden Pure Customer service I just decided to throw my $1,200 in the dumpster and start over.

Now with the upcoming winter I’m looking for another heat source. I am very disappointed with this product and won’t purchase from this company again.

From now on I will do plenty of research before purchasing anything ever again. Expensive $$$ lesson learned.

I also had the noisy fan problem, which I eventually fixed. A bigger issue is the fact that the power cord plug gets too hot to touch when power is set high.

I replaced my EdenPure model USA750 with a slightly higher powered Honeywell unit that cost far less than the Edenpure 750 even though I bought the EdenPure at their "half price sale" promotion. The Honeywell plug does not get hot, ever. I opened the back of the model 750 and checked the plug and cord for a high resistance issue, which might cause the heating issue, but the resistance was very close to zero ohms. Another issue, checked with my Hewlett-Packard oscilloscope, is that the heater injects very high pulses into my home wiring, probably caused by the internal triac.

I do not need to have a connection to the wall outlet, as the pulse is high frequency and easily induced into my body and the only connection to the oscilloscope is me holding the scope probe with my finger, standing anywhere in the house I wish to stand. None of my three different model Honeywell heaters do this. The spikes are of a concern as they are higher than the peak-to-peak 60-cycle AC noise that anybody around AC current will be picking up. As long as I am anywhere in the house, these noise spikes will be induced into my body, as the current seems to be fed back into the wiring in the house, affecting the whole house.

I worked in biomedical engineering for 15 years, so I know the danger the spikes can present for long term health. My EdenPure model USA750 is out of service and I will not be buying anything else from EdenPure.

I orderd EdenPure Classic and got Gen 4 model

I received in the mail a Eden Pure packet for the new Eden Pure model Classic portable infrared heater to heat 1,000 square feet. They sent me a model Gen 4. This is not what I orderd they sent one that is discontinued. I am very upset with there way of not giving you what you orderd. I made a copy of my order. This is false advertising just to get rid of old stock. I am going to call the customer service and chew out them in a way they have not ben chewed. Please note the heater I orderd should have a window that displayes the time of day and the temp on the face plate. Also suppose to be quiter model

DONT BUY

I have had issues with the bulbs in my Gen 4 heater twice in less than 2 years. Now its the blower/fan out. I tried to contact "Afordable Heat" about it with a nice email and was told to call a 866#. They said it was up to the store. Such a runaround If you buy one, you can expect to spend around $100 an year to maintain it. Here is the email I sent just to get a reply back,... sorry... "Hi, I bought an Edenpure heater direct from your company 2 years ago. I paid around $500.00 for the unit. Model # A4428. I have had to have the bulbs replaced twice, the most recent being less than a month ago. After Sears installed the bulbs, it worked for about a week and the blower/fan started making a roaring noise. After taking it back to have it serviced again, I was advised to contact Edenpure as it should still be under warranty and the blower/fan is bad and will need to be replaced. I have recommended this unit to all my family members and some have also purchased one. I feel that it would be a good business decision to send me another blower/fan for this unit as I am not asking for any installation and service fees that I have acquired. Please forward this message to the proper staff if necessary. I hope to get a reply back for your reviews concerning this matter, Much Thanks, Mrs. Wanda Shirey 108 Kimberly Dr. Spartanburg, S.C. 29306" "Business Solutions of the Upstate"

Be prepared to purchase new bulbs for your Edenpure heater every heating season. (3 bulbs at $35 ea.)

While the advertizing copy on the Edenpure US 1000/Gen4 boxes touts a 20,000 hour life for the heater bulbs, I have yet to see a set of bulbs in a US 1000 or Gen4 last more than 400-500 hours of use.

Based on what I know about the testing (SCI/Pinnacle did NO component testing at all during product development), I suspect the rated life (20,000 hours) is for operating those heater bulbs in still air with infrequent on/off cycles.

Due to a design flaw in the Edenpure heater air flow the bulbs will never last 1000 hours let alone 20,000. The coldest air is blown on the base of the red-hot bulbs and after several heat-up/cool-down cycles in the US 1000/Gen4 heater, the bulb seal fractures and then the bulb gets a small amount of oxygen every time the temperature cycles. This results in the nichrome wire filament oxidizing to the breaking point. (if you happen to see one fail, it is a very spectacular light show.

Looks like lightning inside the heater!) At least the quartz tube appears to be thick enough to contain the light show in those last 20 seconds of bulb life. (I've seen the ends blown off of some failed bulbs)

You'll know a bulb has failed when you smell burned metal (vaporized nickel-chromium wire). After that happens 3 times (usually all the bulbs will die in the same week) the heater will just blow cool air and it's time for you to shell out another $100+.

SCI has apparently determined the bulbs are a consumable item in spite of their advertized claims of a 20,000 hour bulb life.

Customers and employees aren't the only ones who get screwed by Suarez Corporation Industries. There is a very good reason SCI has such a large legal team on retainer.

False advertising

Our den den is always cool. Neighbors convinced my husband this was the greatest heater on the market, and so did Bob Villa. wished I would have checked this site. Barely heats the room, takes the chill out, unless you run it full blast. From now on I'll always check this site before buying. In 7 years we have never owed money on utilities till now, over $800 for the season (4 months), that's $200 per month. We have only run this a few hours a day, because, the room is seldom used. If we could send this back, believe me I would. Bob Villa is a lier!!!

i have had my eden pure for 6 years...i finally have to replace the bulbs...it has saved me soooo much money in oil...since i am waiting for bulbs, i have used over 100 gallons of oil that i would not have used with my eden pure running well :zzz ...love it!

Don't be surprised when someone like Bob Villa takes a payday like he did on the EdenPure Heater. He was just a paid spokesperson to get people to waste their money on a product that the quartz lamps only have about a 1-2 years life, depending on how much you use it. You are much better off to purchase a more energy efficient and economical solution.

5 Eden Pure Heaters Failed

Ordered 3 gen 3 heaters, not available, was offered gen 4's but they didn't arrive until end of major heating season in Ohio (March 3rd). #1 worked part of next heating season and failed. $35 to ship to N. Ohio, received a reconditioned unit which failed almost immediately. #2 worked a bit longer than unit 1, but failed soon after, $35 to ship back and obtain reconditioned unit which didn't work at all. Testing anyone?? #3 worked a few months longer than the others but failed. At this point there were 3 units to send for "replacement" units. It is $105 to ship them back. Eden Pure has asked: what I have I done to cause these to quit heating? I said: Gee nothing beyond plugging them in and following the instructions for use. Sad that I have spent over $1270 and have nothing to show for it. Tried contacting their former spokesperson Bob V for his input - hmm, he no longer hawks this product. Please don't misunderstand my complaint. When these units work, they are GREAT, warm without a hot spot in the room, and the heat is consistent. But when they fail, they are merely a box on wheels. I've had such a negative experience, I want Eden Pure to make this right and replace my 3 units free of charge with NEW, working heaters. More money out of my pocket to get units that work a short time is of no value to me. I am sure I convinced many friends and family to get one (or more) of these, and hopefully their experience is far better than what I've experienced. No luck with the Eden Pure website, calls to Customer Service, asking for supervisors, etc.

Warrantee & Trust

Our Eden Pure heater, serial # WG2 248****, Model A 4137, a Gen 3 was given to us as a gift 2 or 3 years ago and unfortunately stopped on Saturday 2/23/13. The power light does go on and the heat lights on the back do light but the heater does not turn on. We have been satisfied with the product until now. I have communicated with the two people who gave us the heater and unfortunately they have been unable to find any paper work. They do remember purchasing the heater on line but not the distributor. I have spoken to your warranty department and gave all the information I had but it was not good enough to pursue warranty information but the rep was very anxious to offer me repair at $125. I don't have proof of purchase because it was a gift, I did not steal it and I would think that model number and serial number would be enough information to proceed but not according to your warranty dept. This tells me that your tracking system leaves something to be desired. None of this really matters since I have a heater that eventually will find it's way to the dump. However you should know that my new heater will not be an Eden Pure, that I cannot recommend Eden Pure to friends or relatives or anyone but just the opposite, that I didn't particularly like the attitude of the woman in your Warranty Dept. and that she could probably benefit from a week in charm school. For all the good things Eden Pure has to say about their products it is too bad they don't stand behind them.

You should contact Underwriters Laboratories (UL) about the first incident. There have been numerous reports of near fires and overheated line cords involving the Edenpure heaters.

Any safety incident like this should be reported to UL.

One could speculate that inferior (and less expensive) components were substituted for the ones approved by UL when the heater design was tested.

However, UL would have to investigate to be sure that inferior parts were substituted for the approved ones.

In any case, UL approval only means the product should be safe. UL does not test for quality or durability.

The quartz lamps that they use in Edenpure heaters are not rated for the life they advertise. Someone should file a class action lawsuit. :(

Edenpure Gen4

I paid a couple hundred bucks for the Edenpure Gen 4 model. I think it heated for one winter.

Last winter it didn't heat at all. It only blows cold air. I'm just now having the time to look into matter. Can't believe it didn't heat longer than one season.

What a piece of ***! So I'll listen to their BS about bla bla bla send it hear bla bla bla. I might just keep it and use it as a fan next summer. I can now brag about my $400 fan whoopie!!

I agree, don't get involved with Edenpure.

I'm not impressed. The only thing that would make me happy is if they sent me another one and I didn't box this one up and send it to them.

For what its worth, I run a small repair center and have had as you can imagine literally hundreds of these things in and out of my place. After 5 years, I finally figured out that the problem isnt really the elements, its the fan control and air volume. With a few tweaks to the fan and some airlfow, mods, it seems to coll the bulbs better.

Guest

What might someone expect to pay for the repair you describe, if I may ask?

Guest

Hands down, my Edenpure heater is the worst home appliance I've ever bought. I returned my original when the first failed to work.

Now after two years, this one constantly says it's not level. That, of course, prevents it from working. I've noticed that many others have the same issue but no solution has been posted.

If you're considering this heater, you'd be better off buying two or three cheaper portable heaters and saving yourself the frustration.

Guest

I also bought an Edenpure Gen4. The first year it worked great, so the next fall I purchased a second one for a different area.

two weeks after purchasing the second one the bulbs went out on the first. Had to box it up pay to ship it back to get it fixed. To make a very long story shorter...the bulbs only seem to last one season and at $96. plus shipping per set it has become a very expensive lesson.

We have gone thru three sets of bulbs. I like the heat not the cost.

Guest

junk dont buy one of these 400 bucks for less than one winter.

Imunique Vzc

I bought a Edenpure Gen 4 about 2 years ago. This winter the heating element went out and it only blows cold air.

I think spending $400.00 for a heater, it should last longer than that. I checked on the cost of the elements and it is $32.00 each and there are three of them. That doesnt cover shiping.

I am disatisfied with the so called 20,000 hours that was promised. I know I didnt use it that many hours.

Guest

Gen 4 EdenPure is a hoax. I pain $400 for the 2012 Gen 4 EdenPure, it worked ONE season and the tubes blew out.

The heating tubes, according to EdenPure last over 20,000 hours, mine lasted 200 or 300 and went dead. The government should look into this, it has happened to thousands of other consumers who were taken by EdenPure. Don't buy any model EdenPure.....because you WILL be sorry. I learned the hard way..and don't bother calling their phone lines...no on e will answer unless you are BUYING an EdenPure.

All repair calls get the multiple selection recorded run around. Stay away.

Guest

We bought our Edenpure Gen.4 and it worked fine, that is untill the infared bulbs went out. We ordered three new bulbs guess what,it worked fine untill about January then the infared bulbs went bad again.

Three bulbs cost over $100.00, so we were out almost five hundred dollars for the Edenpure Gen.4 plus two hundred bucks for the bulbs and now we will have to have three more bulbs if we decide to use it this winter, this would be a total cost of seven hundred dollars. So much for saving on the electric bill.

Guest

Hi, I just read your complaint about the eden pure heater. I had the same problem and it was a matter of taking out the filter, (which I did not know about) and washed it and I have had no problem since.

I hope this helps. betty42@***.com

Dont Buy Edenpure

My unit stopped working and I paid the fee for a shipping slip and have been waiting over 10 days just to receive the slip. I have called BIOTECH 3 times and had the same run around answer and not it will be an additional 10 days before I get my slip and 6 -8 weeks before they ship another unit. My suggestion is to not deal with this company it is not worth it .Buy a wood permit and cut yourself some wood and you'll be healthier and much more cost effective.DONY BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM EVER EVER EVER EVER

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that you could have started using the heater mid-electric billing cycle. It may cost more than that for a full month, depending on local rates. :eek

Guest

I'm with you. Save money???

Average temp. for dec of 2012 and dec 2013. This heater cost me approx. $300 more a month to heat my home.

YES I did use it correctly. Customer service? I have called 3 different numbers and they all say that it is not they're issue but call them back if I want to ship it back to them for repair.

Please advise everyone NOT to purchase this product! :cry

If you only tried it for 20 days how do you know your electric bill was doubling? I know my bill only comes once a month...

I agree with Bonnie, I had it for 2 months and my bill went sky high. Over a $1000.00.

When I finally got in touch with the CO.

they told me the same thing. So the best thing is do not buy any, lower the heat.

Eden Pure heaters don't work

I purchased an Eden Pure Generation 4 heater eleven months ago. It has only been used for a total of three months during that time. It stopped making heat. I have had no luck with their customer service department. I spent fifteen minutes going through the worst automated phone system imaginable. There was never an opportunity to speak to a human. There is no navigation on their company website for email communication. Since it broke down I have been looking into the company online. I am finding a huge number of complaints and warnings of scams. Right now I would say it is a rip off.

Eden Pure Not worth it

We had a power failure which blew the heater circuits on the first heater. Sent back and rec'd another and finished used 1 month. Started 2nd winter, another power failure blew the 2nd heater. Placed in original box near dumpster. This thing works fairly well but is too expensive for what you get. We purchased a cheap Wal-mart heater and have been happy with it, and no problems with power outages blowing the cheap one. Bob Villa should own one before recommending these. Not worth the price. A cheap brand will do the same and you can buy 2 or 3 for the price of one Eden Pure Junk models.

Same problem. Bought the Edenpure Gen 4 last year.

Used for 1 winter and when I started it up this year it only has heat coming out of 1 side. I'm not sure how many of the bulbs are blown yet, but I'm not happy with the life of the bulbs that are supposed to last 20,000 hours. With these results I would not recommend this heater to anyone and will probably never buy another one in the future. If they know the bulbs don't last, they shouldn't promise the results they do.

It's obvious I'm far from the only one with this problem.

I shouldn't have to ship the entire heater back to the company just to have the bulbs replaced. What a hassle.

Edenpure heaters

False advertising...Heaters did NOT do the job as advertised....I had my Gas service disconnected, becos of the high cost.....bought 2 heaters and my bills went up over $8-900. per month. Being an 83 year old women, with no outside help for bills...I am deep in debt. Had my electricity turned off at one time, for lack of payment..couldn't pay...will never recommend Edenpure..No need to say anymore...It just won't do any good, because I am going to be without heat next winter by the looks of what I have experienced.

EdenPure Heaters.

I purchase two (2) of the EdenPure Heaters. They are TOTALLY USELESS !! My electric bill sky rocket by using them. It's cheaper using your furance. They don't keep the room warm. When it's cold outside they never shut off either. If anyone wants to save money on heat. Run your furance. Don't buy a EdenPure Heater. It's like throwing your money down the drain !! I wish I had checked on these heaters before I purchase them. Will never buy anything again until checked out first !!!! They're no good at all to use in the cold weather.

I checked the power usage and it was almost as much in 12 hours as I use in 24 and that was with a lower setting. Sending it back soon.

Unfortunatly he's not a good listener.

Until his dont work. Well until next time we will see.

Sparger3,

I think that the EdenPURE Heaters are best used for "zone" heating, or in other words for heating only the spaces that you use.

Customer service number is: 1-80*-***-**** if that helps.
